While most college grads (yes, Brian graduated from UCF, or so he says) would be stoked just to own their own restaurant, deep down Brian had a burning desire to do more. And after much begging and pleading, his dad loaned him $20,000 & Brian opened the first Tijuana Flats in Winter Park, Florida.
So Brian decided to open his own restaurant despite having never worked in one before (brilliant, right?). But over time, the good times got the best of him and just going out no longer cut it.
(And restaurants, too.) At first, it was just harmless fun. Back in ‘95, this college kid, Brian Wheeler, walked into a bar. How’d Tijuana Flats become Tijuana Flats? Funny story, really. I recommend this restaurant but ONLY AS A EAT IN DINING, the DELIVERY SERVICE IS HORRIBLE AND UNRELIABLE.Our Story The Free Wheelin’ Brian Wheeler We are all very disappointed and when COVID-19 is under control and we have all been vaccinated we will be able to eat in the restaurant again. Oh, by the way, the Checkers driver promises to be here in 5 minutes. We will not be asking for delivery again, and tonight we will be eating Checkers. I have to say that the Delivery Service doesn’t even deserve a single star. I want to reaffirm that Tijuana Flats is a 5 star restaurant for In restaurant dining. We called for a status and were told that the second order was never picked up and they were closing soon so they just refunded our charges. We called, they apologized and requested a different driver. We really do love this restaurant and we KNOW in person our experience would have been excellent as usual. He apologized and said he would report the issue the next day. The manager actually went above and beyond, personal ly delivered our food on his way home and refunded our charges. A few weeks ago we ordered a large delivery order, waited, no delivery, called the restaurant, the manager recall for delivery pickup, and remade our order, pickup (the second time) again was a no show. This rating unfortunately is not for the quality of the food or the staff inside the restaurant. My family absolutely LOVES this restaurant and the food is fantastic if you actually eat in the restaurant.
